This week we welcome back Donna, our new Family and Community Worker, after her holiday in January. Donna will be attending the Umina service this Sunday (2nd February) as well as the Kincumber service on Sunday 9th. On that day I will dedicate the new Kincumber Roundabout Playgroup and pray for all concerned.

Last Tuesday Helen Murray (Kincumber Office Assistant) and I met with Steve Charman, IT consultant to Synod, to do some more work on our new websites. The top-level site has the website address https://centralcoastsouth.uca.org.au. It can be found by Googling “Central Coast South Uniting Church”. This site has links to the Umina and Kincumber sites. These three sites are still being developed under the auspices of the Communications Working Group.

On Thursday Margaret Gregory, Doug Fletcher and I met to work on Central Coast South UCA’s SharePoint electronic document storage. This is housed on Synod’s computer. In coming months we will transfer ALL Church-related computer files/folders onto SharePoint. We have now finalised the security around who can access what i.e. “Access Permissions”.

The weekly Umina services are currently appearing on both Facebook and our new YouTube channel. In coming weeks we will no longer use Facebook. Stay tuned.

A new Bible study will commence in February. Please see the separate item in this issue of Dove Tales.

The Connecting with God Mission Team met on Friday (31st January). There will be a brief report in next week’s Dove Tales.

Most of you know that I give presentations on Dementia. Some of you know that in the late stages of Parkinson’s Disease people invariably have symptoms of dementia. The University of Tasmania has produced a new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) called “Parkinson’s Disease MOOC”. This is being launched on 5th February. It will be a free course which you can do at your own pace on your own computer. You will learn about Parkinson’s from world experts. Google “Parkinson’s MOOC” and enrol. (There are 3 other MOOCs: Understanding Dementia, Preventing Dementia and Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury. I can recommend all three).

Please continue to pray for Church Council and its Executive as we fulfil our Vision and Action Plan. Pray as we develop our Church Profile with a view to calling an Ordained Minister or employing a Pastor. Pray as all of the Mission Teams resume.

Finally, please come along to the Friday morning 9am Prayer meeting on Zoom. Ann Thompson (Umina) or Danielle (Umina Office Assistant) can send you the link.

With hope and joy in 2025,

Rev. Frank (Van Der Korput), Supply Minister
