Trinity Sunday
The UCA logo represents our God in Trinity.
Sunday 15th is Trinity Sunday, the day in which we affirm that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is symbolised in many ways. St. Patrick used the shamrock – the 3-leaf clover –to teach about the Trinity. The Uniting Church logo also speaks of the Trinity.
The Uniting Church Assembly website explains our logo. The empty cross represents Jesus’ life and death and resurrection. It is white, representing light and love. The dove, with red wings of flame, represents the Holy Spirit, bringing life to the world. The circle represents God the Father, the Creator. The circle is black because it represents our world, darkened by sin, which is redeemed and made new through Jesus. The semi-circular “U” at the bottom reminds us of God’s call for unity. It is an incomplete circle, because God’s work of renewal of both the church and the world is still incomplete.
The Assembly website concludes with these words: “The logo symbolises something of the vision we have glimpsed and the hopes we hold for the future. In particular it reminds us:
· that the gospel message is central in all that we seek to do;
· of the need for constant reform and renewal;
· of our commitment to worship, witness and service”.
Here at Central Coast South we are seeking to be true to this 3-fold calling.
May each of us fix our eyes on God the Son– the author and perfector of our faith. May we serve in the power of God the Holy Spirit. And may we give honour and glory to God the Father, source of all life and love.
With hope and joy,
Rev. Frank (Van Der Korput), Supply Minister
